The rate of rise sensor uses two different methods of temperature detection. The first method will alert you if the temperature rises quickly (a 15°F change in temperature, in a period of sixty seconds or less). The second method will trigger the alarm if the temperature reaches 194°F. Since the rate of rise sensor is programmed to a 24-hour zone, the Tattletale base unit does not need to be armed to send an alarm.
