Kitchen fires can happen when stoves and cook tops are left unattended.  Busy parents, elderly linving alone, dorm rooms, rental spaces are applications where protection may be needed against unattended cooking and forgetful users.

By watching for motion in the kitchen area these automatic stove shut off systems will automatically turn off the stove or cook top when no motion has been sensed for a pre-set amount of time.  Users can roam around as usual as long as they're checking the kitchen regularly or continue to work in the area.  

But if they walk away for too long, electricity is cut to the appliance so it turns off.

It can be re-set when they return by pressing a button on the control unit mounted near the stove or range.
